DLSU trumps FEU in bounce back victory

MANILA, Philippines-Coming back strong after their lone defeat of the first round, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers hunted down the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws 3-1, 25-17, 27-29, 25-14, 25-9, to start their second round campaign of the UAAP Season 77 Volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Thursday.

DLSU lost to nemesis Ateneo in the final game of the first round in five sets, but the blunder was long forgotten.

Duking it out in three close sets, the Lady Spikers held the Tamaraws by the Horns and went on an 8-0 run in the fourth then raining down on their opponents with a 20-6 lead.

Lady Spikers head coach Ramil De Jesus was relieved that his team pulled off the win despite the team’s lack of focus.

“Their conditioning was bad. You can see that they are not that focused,” De Jesus said whose team now has a 7-1 record behind the 7-0 Lady Eagles.

Captain Aa Galang paved the way for DLSU with 17 points while Cyd Demecillo had 13.

Mila Reyes and Kil Fajardo added 10 apiece for the Lady Spikers.
