La Salle, UP spikers trip rivals
Playing ruthless in the closing sets, La Salle rebounded from its first loss with a 25-17, 27-29, 25-14, 25-9 victory over Far Eastern University in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at Mall of Asia Arena.
La Salle star Ara Galang led the relentless attacks with 17 points while recovering from a personal season-low of 11 in the Lady Spikers’ five-set loss to rival Ateneo (7-0) last week.
“We had an evaluation at the end of the first round and we talked,” coach Ramil de Jesus said of his Lady Spikers, who improved to a 7-1 record. “I just told them we have to learn from our mistakes.”

Nicole Tiamzon drilled 12 points and Angeli Araneta had eight to power UP to its fourth win in eight outings.
