/ 04:15 AM January 24, 2015

SAN BEDA extended its dominance in football for another crown in an already trophy-littered season, while Arellano swept San Sebastian in their best-of-three series to nail a first women’s volleyball crown yesterday in the 90th NCAA season.

Already champions in basketball and swimming, the Red Lions also captured a fifth straight crown in football with a 4-0 whipping of Lyceum at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Chiefs completed their rise to the top with a comprehensive 25-23, 25-19, 26-24 victory over the San Sebastian Lady Stags at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Perpetual Help also clinched its first juniors’ title in four years after crushing Lyceum, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19, to also complete a sweep of their best-of-three series.

Emilio Aguinaldo College forced a winner-take-all match in the men’s division, after overcoming St. Benilde, 25-22, 21-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-13, in Game 2.

Howard Mojico fired 33 points to carry the Generals, who dropped the finals opener to the Blazers in four sets.

Tubiera fired 18 points and also had four digs as the Lady Chiefs nailed their first crown since joining the league in 2009. The victory more than made up for their loss to Perpetual Help in last year’s finals.

Jim Ashley Flores scored twice in the second half as San Beda punctuated a stellar season with a dominant performance against Lyceum.

Miguel Caindec was also on target early in the second half as the Red Lions put the game beyond reach.

San Beda turned up its pressing game and proved quick on the counter to rattle Lyceum.
