MALACAÑANG tries to shake off the cobwebs as it goes for a four-game sweep of its group tomorrow in the elimination round of the 3rd UNTV Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Though they haven’t played for more than a month, the Patriots are heavily favored in their 5 p.m. showdown with the House of Representatives Solons in Group A.
The last time the Patriots played was on Dec. 13, when they stunned the fancied Philippine National Police Responders, 66-64, through the efforts of Andro Reques, Paul Yamamoto, Mervin Verches and John Jimenez.
The Solons are already out of contention for the next phase after dropping their first three games. Group A is composed of five teams while Group B has six teams.
Only the top four teams from each group will advance to the second round of the tournament presented by UNTV.
Judiciary topped Group B by winning all its five games, the latest a 110-57 drubbing of GSIS Sunday.
In Group B matches, Senate eyes a fourth win when it collides with defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines at 2 p.m. while National Housing Authority takes on MMDA at 3:30.
