Huey, Erlich reach Australian Open third round

TREAT Huey and Israeli partner Jonathan Erlich pulled off of 6-3, 6-2 shock win over last year’s champion Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and new partner Marcin Matkowski of Poland Saturday to barge into the third round of the Australian Open.

Huey and Erlich fashioned out the upset victory in just 57 minutes at Court No. 8 of Melbourne Park to book a duel against another upset-minded pair in Feliciano Lopez of Spain and Max Mirnyi of Belarus.

Lopez and Mirnyi bundled out seventh seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Daniel Nestor of Canada, 7-5, 6-3, to advance.

But the biggest win in the draw belonged to the 29-year-old captain of the Philippine team, and Erlich, who won the event in 2008 in tandem with compatriot Andy Ram. Marc Reyes
