Philippine volleyball now has a new governing body.
The FIVB (international volleyball federation) has given “provisional recognition” to the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc., in a letter sent to the Philippine Olympic Committee dated Jan. 27.
Signed by no less than FIVB president Ary Graca, the letter said the LVPI was granted recognition as the new national volleyball federation under the umbrella of the POC, “provided that the first requirement set forth by the Asian Volleyball Confederation in its letter dated Jan. 23 of the election of the additional board of administration members (is complied with).”
The FIVB has set a Feb. 15 deadline for the election of additional officers.
A committee formed by the POC along with major stakeholders like the Philippine Superliga, Shakeys V-League, UAAP and NCAA will now run the sport with POC vice president Joey Romasanta acting as interim president and director.
