71 teams vie in women’s volley tourney

More than 800 players from 71 teams will comprise BEST Center’s 19th Women’s Volleyball League (WVL) which runs this month until March for players aged 9 to 16.

League commissioner Florentino “Kid” Santos said the interschool tournament has started conducting developmental and competitive matches in Metro Manila.

The WVL will have 13 schools competing in the 13-Under Developmental division, seven in the 13-U Competitive, 29 in the 17-U Developmental and 22 in the 17-U Competitive.

Last year’s Competitive division winners were Hope Christian High School (17-U) and Colegio de San Agustin Makati (13-U) while the Developmental level defending champions are Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan (13-U) and La Consolacion College (17-U).
