Nat’l drag racing Southern series kicks off in Batangas
THE COUNTRY’S finest drivers, led by defending M&H Pro champion Martin Manalo and brother Marc, bring their battle for supremacy at Batangas Racing Circuit today for the kickoff of the 2015 National Drag Racing Championship Southern Series in Rosario town.
After the successful Northern Series that lured a new record field of 170 drivers last weekend, the number of entries is expected to bloat as more enthusiasts from Batangas, Laguna, Quezon and the Bicol region join the hunt for titles at stake—Quick 8, M&H Pro, Expert, Sportsman and Hotstreet.
Martin Manalo will renew his rivalry against a tough field led by defending national champion Jonathan Tiu, who reset the BRC quarter-mile record to 9.091 seconds and the Philippine mark to 8.806 seconds last year. Other contenders are Teofilo Edwin and Edison Cayco and H3 Autoworks teammates Pepi Santos, John Kalaw and the Vannitec squad of Vanni Garcia and Allan Ararao.
