Pagara, three other Filipino face foreigners
MANILA, Philippines—Jason “El Nino” Pagara and three other Filipino boxers will test their mettle against foreign opponents in “Pinoy Pride 29: Fists of Fury” this Saturday at USEP Gym in Davao City.
Pagara (34 wins, 2 losses, 21 knockouts) will put his World Boxing Organization international junior welterweight title on the line against Mexican Cesar “El Dolar” Chavez (23-7, 11 KOs) in the 12-round headliner of the event put up by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.
Unbeaten Genesis “Azukal” Servania (25-0, 11 KOs) will also stake his WBO intercontinental junior featherweight crown against Mexican Juan Luis “Perla Negra” Hernandez (17-3-1, 9 KOs) in the chief support.
Article continues after this advertisementOther televised bouts pit unscathed “King” Arthur Villanueva (26-0, 14 KOs) against former WBO flyweight champion Julio Cesar Miranda (38-11-2, 28 KOs) of Mexico and Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo (9-0, 7 KOs) against Thai Sukkasem Kietyongyuth (13-3, 8 KOs).
Pinoy Pride 29 will be aired on ABS-CBN on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. and on ABS-CBN Sports + Action at 9 p.m. with a replay on Feb. 14 at noon on ABS-CBN Sports + Action.
An impressive win by Pagara, who hasn’t lost for three years, will earn him a training stint in the United States and probably a crack at a world title this year.
