MANILA, Philippines—Another fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is facing a doping issue.
Rising welterweight Hector Lombard was the latest in the UFC to fail a drug test which he took after winning over Josh Burkman in UFC 182 on Jan. 3.
The 37-year-old Cuban-Australian tested positive for a specific steroid called Desoxymethyltestosterone, commonly known as Madol, according to the results released by the Nevada Athletic Commission in a report by MMAWeekly.com.
In a statement, the UFC said that it “will cooperate with the (Nevada State Athletic) commission on the matter and fully supports Lombard’s right to a due process hearing before the commission.”
Lombard is the fourth fighter in the UFC to test positive in a drug test in just over a month after Jon Jones, Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz.
Jones was caught for use of benzoylecgonine, a main component of cocaine, after a pre-fight drug test for UFC 182. The former middleweight champion Silva tested positive for two anabolic steroids while Diaz was revealed to have used more than the allowable amount of marijuana metabolites in Nevada after post-fight drug screens for UFC 183.
