THE MANILA Southwoods Seniors holds its seventh invitational tournament tomorrow and Wednesday with a huge field clashing for top honors at Southwoods’ Legends and Masters courses.
Danny Gutierrez and partner Mari Castaneda will defend the Group I crown after pooling 138 points under the Aggregate-Stableford scoring system in last year’s staging.
Others tipped to go for a repeat in the 36-hole event presented by Resorts World Manila are Group 2 champions Frankie Flameno and Boni Vergel de Dios and the Francis Celones-Goody Hernandez pair, which topped Group 3.
The shotgun start tee off is set at 8 a.m. at Legends vourse in the first day and also at 8 a.m. on Wednesday at Masters layout.
Other titles to be disputed in the event, backed by annual hole sponsors Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Brainmaster, Goutritis, Megafiber, Red Eagle Lending Investors, Corp. and San Miguel-Purefoods, are the seniors (55-74) and super seniors (75-and-above).
A brand new E-Z-GO DCS electric 2-seater golf cart will be staked as hole-in-prize but if no one scores an ace, it will be raffled off as a major prize, according to Paco Gonzalez, president of the organizing Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter and also the tournament chair.
