Mayweather denies $250-M fight with Pacquiao signed

MANILA, Philippines — There was no announcement, just the same old news.

Nothing has been signed yet as far as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his possible megafight with Manny Pacquiao are concerned.

The pound-for-pound king Mayweather refuted reports that the long-awaited showdown with Pacquiao has been set — saying that the news are “just speculations.”

“That’s not true,” Mayweather told TNT analyst David Aldridge during the 2015 NBA All-Star game at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“I haven’t signed yet and he hasn’t signed yet. It’s just speculations and rumors. But hopefully, we can make the fight happen,” added Mayweather, who sat courtside.

Negotiations between the two camps had a breakthrough when Mayweather and Pacquiao had a chance meeting at an NBA game in Miami and when went to personally talk about their potential bout in a hotel.

There have been reports that some issues have been resolved but some still remain and there hasn’t been any progress since.

The stage has been agreed upon that it will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and if a deal will be finalized it will be held on May 2.

And Mayweather insisted that the fight should be on the said target date.

“I’m Mayweather we have to make it happen in May.”
