The mere mention of Manny Pacquiao is slowly getting on Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s nerve.

On Saturday night, the unbeaten American champion got agitated when a reporter asked him about the progress of negotiations in his projected megabuck bout with the eight-division Filipino world champion.

On Sunday, forced to answer queries about the projected fight during a break in the third quarter of the NBA All-Star, Mayweather tersely told TNT’s David Alridge: “I haven’t signed a contract and he hasn’t signed a contract.”

Pressed for more details, Mayweather said (all the talk surrounding the fight) have “just been speculations and rumors.”

As usual, however, the flamboyant Mayweather left some hope dangling.

“Hopefully we can make the fight happen.”

And for good measure, Mayweather insisted that should the fight push through it will happen in May, not on any other month.

“I’m Mayweather, we have to make it happen in May.”

Last Dec. 12, Mayweather announced that he’s willing to fight Pacquiao on  May 2.

Pacquiao readily agreed and back door negotiations  between the two camps, with Mayweather on the A side, proceeded.

Last week, Pacquiao announced on GMA 7 that the fight is virtually a done deal and that only Mayweather’s signature on the fight contract is needed for the $250-million showdown to happen.

Mayweather is taking his own sweet time, however, and won’t be persuaded nor distracted to sign right away and earn at least $120 million.

This despite the reported network issues between CBS/Showtime and Time Warner/HBO having been resolved.
