MANILA, Philippines—Willy Princesa and guest partner Tomas Joson pooled 160 points and nipped brothers Butch and Philip Brodett in the tiebreak for the Group I title in the seventh Manila Southwoods invitational tournament presented by Resorts World Manila at Southwoods in Carmona, Cavite, recently.
Princesa and Joson shot a 40 on each nine of both the Legends and Masters courses for a 160 total under the Aggregate-Stableford scoring system and prevailed with a lower team handicap.
The Brodetts, former winners of this annual event organized by the Manila Southwoods Seniors Chapter headed by tournament chair and president Paco Gonzalez, assembled 43-36 at Legends but fell short with 44-37 at Masters.
George Alfonso and Benjamin Alfonso combined for 159 (79-80) to dominate Group 2, four points clear of Gil Domingo and Boy Paguio which shot 155 (81-74).
Lino Barte-Egay Yamzon ruled Group 3 with 157 over Dante Desembrana-Chris Gonzales (152).
