UFL: Kaya, Stallion seek third straight victories

KAYA and Stallion try to keep their perfect records as they tangle with separate foes at the resumption of the United Football League today at Rizal Memorial Football Field.

Running second with six points, Kaya faces Manila Jeepney at 5:15 p.m. before Stallion battles defending champion Global in the first marquee matchup of the season.

Like Kaya, Stallion is seeking a third straight win, and with Ruben Doctora in fine form, the Iloilo-based side likes its chances.

Doctora netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 demolition of Team Socceroo last Saturday.

Global is on top with seven points although it has played more games than the rest of the field owing to its adjusted schedule because of the coming AFC Cup.

But coach Leigh Manson’s side is going into the game high on confidence after whipping Team Socceroo, 8-0, last Tuesday where Hikaru Minegishi, Izzo El Habbib and Mark Hartmann scored two goals each.

The match is Global’s third in a draining week and as if it’s not enough, Manson is also looking ahead to the AFC Cup on Wednesday when the UFL side plays South China.

Kaya is off to a strong start with wins over Army and Green Archers last week.
