Portugal: PSA recognition an inspiration

REIGNING Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring champion Victor “Dondon” Portugal expressed his deep gratitude to the Philippine Sportswriters Association for the citation he received during the recent PSA Annual Awards Night at 1Esplanade of Mall of Asia.

Portugal, also the Mayor of Taysan in Batangas, was recognized by the PSA for his excellence in motorsports.

“It was just surreal to be included in the circle of top sports achievers,” Portugal said.  “Thank you  to the PSA for choosing me as the best in motorsports this year.”

“The PSA citation will also serve as my driving force to formulate laws for further development of Philippine sports and the welfare of our national athletes fighting for the country’s pride and glory,” Portugal added.

Car racing has been Portugal’s passion since his college days.  An invitation from some racers he met during a competition  turned his dream into reality.

“I never thought I’ll be racing with elite race car drivers,” Portugal said.
