MANILA, Philippines — After notching its third win this conference, Kia now finds itself in the playoff picture with four games left.
But the Carnival’s playing-coach Manny Pacquiao, has his sights set on an even a bigger goal.
“Hindi lang pumasok, mag-champion (Not only to enter the playoffs, but to win the championship),” said Pacquiao when asked what his message was to his team when he departs for the US to continue his training for his upcoming megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2.
“Imposible ba yon? (Is that impossible?) I told you, nothing is impossible with God. Palagi kaming bine-bless ng Panginoon (We’re always blessed by God).”
Kia has beaten Philippine Cup champion San Miguel, defending Commissioner’s Cup champion Purefoods and perennial contender Talk ‘N Text this conference following a 1-11 all-Filipino Cup campaign where it only won against fellow expansion team Blackwater.
At 3-4, Kia has a good shot of making it to the playoffs. In fact, if the playoffs started today, the Carnival will hold the eighth and final spot.
Winning the championship though, is an entirely different thing.
