UAAP: FEU nails Final 4 berth
MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University (FEU) lived to fight another day, hacking out a marathon 25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 16-25, 15-6 victory over University of Santo Tomas to clinch a semifinal berth in the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament last night at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Tamaraws recovered their bearings in the deciding set as they worked behind their solid blocking to prevail in the playoff for the No. 4 seed.
The win sent FEU to another knockout duel against National U in the stepladder semifinals on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Article continues after this advertisementThe survivor of the clash will move on to face No. 2 La Salle for a place in the finals where Ateneo already has a thrice to beat edge owing to their sweep of the elimination round.
Bernadette Pons had 17 hits and 12 digs, Geneveve Casugod also had 17 points, including five blocks, while rookie Heather Guino-o had a career-game 17 points for the Lady Tamaraws.
In men’s play, Ateneo tripped Adamson University, 25-16, 25-12, 26-28, 25-20, to reach the finals for the second straight year.
