Special title belt for Pacquiao-Mayweather fight

MANILA, Philippines—Bring on the bling.

When Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat each other to a pulp come May 3 (Manila time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, only one man will be crowned a victor.

And that victor will take home the WBO, WBA and WBC World Welterweight Championship belts and one more special belt.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Boxing Scene that “a very special and exquisite” belt will be created for the winner of the mega fight.

“For this special recognition I would like to have emeralds or platinum, but everything will be defined during the next few weeks. This is because of the magnitude of the event, which will be broadcast via TV networks globally,” Sulaiman said.

Sulaiman added that the fight is one of the most important events in boxing history and both fighters must show the prestige of that event on top of the ring.

Punching, and getting punched, maybe hard work but getting an emerald-studded platinum-plated belt is one sweet, not to mention expensive, reward.
