Kobe Paras, LA Cathedral crash out of California playoff

MANILA, Philippines—Los Angeles Cathedral and Kobe Paras weren’t so lucky when they faced top-seeded Torrance Bishop Montgomery on Thursday (Manila time).

Cathedral absorbed a 59-47 defeat to Torrance Bishop Montgomery and failed to advance to the semifinals of the Southern Section Open Division, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Oregon State-commit Stephen Thompson Jr. was there for Bishop Montgomery every time Cathedral knocked on the lead.

Bishop Montgomery had a seven-point lead in the half but Cathedral upped their tempo in the third where the UCLA-bound Paras scored eight of his 14 points.

Thompson, however, stepped up for Bishop Montgomery by netting home a three in the fourth to give his team a 42-38 lead.

With the loss, Cathedral will possibly fall to Division 3 and won’t have to face Bishop Montgomery in the near future.

Thompson put up 20 points in the win.
