MANILA, Philippines — Manny Pacquiao is known for his hand speed and powerful left hand. But former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis thinks Pacquiao’s heart could be his biggest weapon against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Lewis, like many other present and past champions, gave his take on the May 2 megafight between the top two pound-for-pound fighters Mayweather and Pacquiao.

According to Lewis, who is regarded as one of the best in his division, while Mayweather is the more talented fighter, his heart couldn’t be compared to that of Pacquiao’s.

“I think Floyd has so much talent and quickness, that natural ability to win. It really depends on his heart. Pacquiao has a lot of heart,” the retired British boxer Lewis told BBC Radio Live’s Sportsweek.

The 49-year-old Lewis, who hung up his gloves in 2004, said the two fighters’ styles make for a compelling case for an exciting fight with the defensive specialist Mayweather, whom he described as “very quick” and “hard to hit” clashing with Pacquiao, who is known for his aggression.

“Pacquiao is a great guy when it comes to offense and trying to break a person down. He’s trying to knock you out so it’s a great match-up between styles.”

“It’s difficult but I think Mayweather has all the advantages, that natural ability and rhythm. Pacquiao, you never really know how he’s going to come out because he’s boxed differently on different occasions with different opponents.”
