MANILA, Philippines — Kiefer Ravena is no stranger to the international stage.
The 21-year-old Ateneo star has been part of four Philippine national teams since 2009 and he couldn’t be more honored to be given another shot at representing the country.
“It’s always different [playing for the national team]. It’s always privilege,” Ravena told INQUIRER.net during the first tryout for the Sinag Pilipinas team on Monday night at the Philsports Arena.
“It’s never an obligation for you to serve your country.”
Ravena donned country’s name in front of his jersey in 2009 as part of the U-16 team before in impressing in the the Fiba Asia U-18 competitions where he was named to the Mythical Five.
He was also part of the 2011 and 2013 Sinag teams which took home gold medals.
“To be chosen and be one of the few, it’s a privilege. It’s a dream of everybody to be called up for the national team so I’m making the most out of it.”
Along with top amateur players in the country, Ravena was invited by Tab Baldwin to try out for the new Sinag side which will compete in the 11th Seaba Championship in April and the 28th Southeast Asian Games in June.
