Canelo Alvarez feels he had a hand in making Pacquiao-Mayweather happen

MANILA, Philippines—Whoever was responsible for the mega fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. please stand up.

Why? Because everyone is taking credit for it.

This time, it’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Alvarez, in a report from BoxingNews24.com, thinks that one of the reasons that Pacquiao and Mayweather will finally punch each other was because of his actions.

He repeatedly said that he would fight on May 2 (May 3 in Manila) unless Mayweather agrees to fight Pacquiao.

According to BoxingScene24.com, Alvarez was determined to fight James Kirkland on May 2 in a regular non-pay-per-view on HBO if Mayweather would not fight with Pacquiao.

“I’d like to think that I had something to do with Mayweather-Pacquiao being made because I always said the only way I was moving from the May 2nd date was if they made the big fight happen,” Alvarez told ESPN Deportes.

“So because of that I feel like I had a hand in the fight actually happening. It’s good for the sport and good for the fans that they are fighting. I am happy for them.”
