MANILA, Philippines—Defending national champion Jonathan Tiu and reigning M&H Pro titlist Martin Manalo renew their rivalry in the second leg of the 2015 National Drag Racing Championship Southern Series Saturday at Batangas Racing Circuit.
Tiu is eyeing a repeat of his Quick 8 victory. In the kickoff leg, Tiu experienced problems with his car but teammate Jonathan Young backed him up and he eventually secured a finals berth.
Manalo, meanwhile, will defend his M&H Pro crown with younger brother and former Southern Series champ Marc as backup.
Marc Manalo took over after Martin’s early exit and challenged Tiu for the Quick 8 plum.
Eyeing second straight wins are Mark Mabiliran (Expert), Robert Palmero II (Sportsman) and Cer Oliriz Alcala (Hotstreet).
Meanwhile, the third Northern Series leg is slated on March 28.
