Pacquiao to fans: Give me time to rest up

MANILA, Philippines—Manny Pacquiao loves company. Wherever he goes and whatever he does, he’s usually surrounded by friends, fans, and hangers-on.

A very accommodating person, he obliges requests for photographs, autographs and appearances.

But as much as he wants to satisfy his fans, Pacquiao needs all the space and time to fully prepare for his fight against the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Filipino ring superstar, who has started a hectic six-days-a-week training, says he needs sufficient time to rest.

“My time for rest is very short indeed and training makes my hand tired,” Pacquiao told Philboxing.com. “I hope that fans would understand. I may spend less time with them so I could focus on training. This is not an easy fight, so I have to be at my very best.”

He said he doesn’t want to tire himself out by granting photo-ops or signing autographs.

Curfew at Pacquiao’s residence on Plymouth Boulevard in Los Angeles is from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It was set so he could cool down after jogging in the morning and gym training in the afternoon.
