PH to field ‘competitive’ lineup for Asian U23 Volleyball; Valdez, Morado tapped

MANILA, Philippines—Even if the roster is not yet official, the Philippines will field a “competitive” lineup that can take on the Asian powers.

Jose Romasanta, Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. President, said the proposed “lineup is very competitive.”

Coach Sammy Acaylar said the Filipino volleybelles have the heart to take on any competitor in the competition.

“Filipinas have the heart to play,” Acaylar said. “We only have a short time to prepare but nothing is impossible.”

Romasanta said that he, Acaylar and coach Roger Gorayeb are reviewing the proposed lineup.

He added that they are only waiting for the UAAP Volleyball Tournament, where some of the players are still playing, to end.

Ateneo Lady Eagles Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado and Bea de Leon are proposed to play for the national team.

And if they need any motivational words, Manuel V. Pangilinan sent Romasanta a text message of support.

“We shall not fail,” Pangilinan texted Romasanta.
