CKSC, San Beda whip NBTC foes, gain semis

MANILA, Philippines—Chiang Kai Shek College stayed on track for a back-to-back title bid as the Blue Dragons topped Group D to barge into the six-team semifinals of the 2015 Seaoil-NBTC National High School Championships Friday at Philsports Arena.

Fran Yu knocked in 21 points to power the Blue Dragons to a 95-43 blasting of St. John’s Institute-Bacolod, just hours after the defending champions also routed University of Cordilleras-Baguio, 115-54.

Six-time NCAA juniors champion San Beda of Group C also advanced with a 2-0 slate along with Group B’s National U, Group E’s Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu, Group F’s Lyceum Cavite and Group A’s San Beda-B.

Marc Diputado fired 17 points and Josh Caracut added 14 as the Red Cubs tripped Castillejos High School-Zambales, 83-64, at Philsports, to follow up on their 67-55 triumph over Maryhill Lucena earlier at Meralco Gym.

Another juniors champion, Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu dumped Assumption Davao, 83-64, behind Joshua Sinclair’s double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds. Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) juniors MVP Felix Jaboneta chipped in 12 points.

The Magis Eagles, the reigning Cesafi juniors titlist, also overpowered Naga City Montessori, 100-61, at Meralco Gym.

The Bullpups, UAAP juniors finalist this season, posted back-to-back routs of Gerona Institute-Tarlac, 133-49, and St. Roberts International-Iloilo, 73-55, at Ynares Sports Arena.

San Beda-B likewise walloped Perpetual Biñan, 96-58, and Southern City College-Zamboanga, 86-44.

Lyceum-Cavite advanced after victories over Infant Jesus-Pampanga and Sacred Heart-Cagayan de Oro.
