Morales sides with Pacquiao, says he has little more ‘machismo’ than Mayweather

MANILA, Philippines—Once you’ve beaten a great fighter, and get beaten by that great fighter, you know there’s something unnatural that the simple laws of humanity can’t put a hold on.

For Mexican legend Erik Morales, he saw how a force of nature can conjure up images of utter destruction.

That force of nature is Manny Pacquiao, the man Morales chose as the one to end Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s 47-fight win streak.

“Pacquiao is faster and have strong links, I think he will win,” Morales told Boxing Scene during the press conference for the Fight of the Century in Los Angeles.

Morales was the fighter that stopped Pacquiao’s 15-fight unbeaten streak in 2005 but suffered two defeats at the hands of the Filipino in an epic trilogy.

After Morales’ victory over Pacquiao, the Filipino started a 15-fight win streak which saw him climb from Super Featherweight to Light Middleweight and claim his eighth world title in eight divisions.

Morales said Mayweather does not like to fight face-to-face, the case which he and Pacquiao fought.

When asked what is it that he has that Mayweather doesn’t have in beating Pacquiao, Morales answer was simple.

“I am a Mexican.”
