Seasports action gets going

MANILA, Philippines—The Manila Bay Summer Seasports Festival fires off Saturday at the Baywalk on Roxas Boulevard with Manila City Hall officials attending the opening rites at 7 a.m.

Inspectors will check out motors before the qualifying heats of the bancathon and the dragon boat elimination races get going.

Motorized banca racers from across the country are seeing action in the stock and formula races, while 18 clubs are competing in the dragon boat races.

The semifinal rounds will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow with the championship rounds to be held later in the afternoon.

The awards night and mini concert starting at 6 will cap the two-day event presented by Manila Broadcasting Company and the City of Manila, in cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard, and supported by Cobra Energy Drink, The Generics Pharmacy, Revicon, M. Lhuillier, Cignal, My Juiz, and Herco, the official distributor for Briggs and Stratton in the country.
