UFL: Ceres-La Salle overpowers Kaya

MANILA, Philippines—Ceres-La Salle pounced on Kaya’s erratic start to score a 2-1 victory Saturday night in a battle of unbeaten teams in the United Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Goals from Patrick Reichelt and Adrian Gallardo in the first 25 minutes helped the reigning FA League Cup champions survive a late onslaught by Kaya, which lost for the first time in five games.

OJ Porteria pulled a goal back for Kaya just before the halftime whistle but Ceres held firm in the second half and improved to 12 points.

Ceres remains the only undefeated side this season although the Bacolod side is level with Kaya, Loyola and Stallion with 12 points.

“It was a hard-fought game,” said Ceres coach Ali Go. “We needed this kind of game. Hard games make the team stronger.”
