Australian boxer fighting for his life after losing to Filipino bet–report

MANILA, Philippines — After losing a fight inside the ring, Australian boxer Braydon Smith is fighting for his life.

Smith reportedly collapsed and is currently in life support with a “suspected head injury” hours after losing a 10-round bout to Filipino boxer John Moralde at Rumours International in Australia.

In an article posted on thechronicle.com.au, Smith remained in “critical condition” at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

The 23-year-old Smith is a rising star in his country and entered the featherweight bout against Moralde having won his first 12 fights.

Moralde won the fight via unanimous decision and claimed the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental title.

Smith made his professional boxing debut in 2011.
