MANILA, Philippines — The world’s highest-paid athlete signed the contract for boxing’s richest fight using the most expensive pen.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. reportedly used an 18-karat gold Cross pen in signing the contract for his May 2 super fight with Manny Pacquiao.
According to TMZ Sports, Mayweather made use of the Peerless 125 which is worth $4,000 or about P180,000.
There are only 125 of those made in the world and among the other few people who use the golden pen are US President Barack Obama and media mogul Oprah.
As per the report, Mayweather, who slipped on a pair of white gloves before signing, “retired the pen” after he signed the contract.
Mayweather, the top pound-for-pound fighter, was the highest-earning athlete according to Forbes in 2014. And Mayweather doesn’t appear to be going anywhere in the list with a huge payday ahead as he is set to make at least $120 million in fighting Pacquiao.
