University of Santo Tomas made it back to the top after getting dislodged from the No. 1 spot in the last two seasons.
Boosted by title romps in five sporting events, the Tigers reclaimed the UAAP general championship with 285 points after Season 77 wrapped up on Thursday.
The crown will be the Tigers’ 40th overall in the seniors division, the most among the eight universities competing in the premier collegiate league.
La Salle, which snapped UST’s 14-year reign, slipped to second place with 279 points.
The Tigers completed a sweep of men and women’s judo and also ruled men’s taekwondo, women’s beach volleyball and women’s track and field.
Other podium finishes propped up the Tigers’ bid as the men and women’s tennis teams, men and women’s fencing and men’s beach volleyball finished second, while men’s volleyball, men’s swimming, men’s chess, men’s track and field, men’s table tennis, poomsae and women’s taekwondo checked in third.
The Tigers will formally receive the general championship during the league’s closing ceremony in April.
