Nietes retains WBO crown, stops Parra in Pinoy Pride 30 main event
Donnie “Ahas” Nietes continued his reign and retained his WBO light flyweight belt after a technical knockout win over another Mexican Gilberto Parra in the main event of Pinoy Pride 30 Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Nietes, the current longest reigning Filipino world champion, sent Parra down to the canvas with a left-right combination to the face. Parra was saved by the bell but couldn’t continue for the 10th round as advised by the ringside physician.

“First round pa lang sabi ko sa sarili ko kaya kong patumbahin,” Nietes said. “Pero sabi ni coach maging patient muna.”

Nonito Donaire was successful in his return after an early stoppage win over William Prado in the co-featured bout.

Filipino prospect Albert Pagara was also triumphant after dominating Rodolfo Hernandez.
