PHILIPPINE bets face a strong international challenge in the two-day 2015 Subic Bay ASTC Asian Triathlon Cup 2015 starting on April 25 at Subic Bay Freeport.
Australia’s Kelly Perkins, fresh from a solid performance in the Maloobala Oceania Cup, heads the foreign favorites in the race where qualifying points for the ASTC Triathlon Asian Cup are up for grabs.
John Chicano banners the Philippine team in the elite division that also lists veteran racers from Japan and Macao and rising contenders from Australia, Uzbekistan, Iran, Hong Kong, Syria, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Singapore and Canada.
The event, co-presented by Speedo and sanctioned by the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) and the International Triathlon Union (ITU), also offers ITU points for Asian and world rankings and qualification for international competitions.
Also debuting in the elite race are Zoe Bowden, Malaysia’s back-to-back champion in the 13-15 age group, and Philippine age-group contender Kim Kilgroe.
Britain’s Sam O’Shea and the United States’ Kyle Izzo, meanwhile, lead the elite junior division that includes Filipino s Edward Macalalad, Julius Constantino, Justin Chiongbian and Jimuel Patilan.
