Archers dominate La Salle-Ateneo alumni golf

LA SALLE won seven titles in four different batches to post 79 points and a whopping 32-point victory over Ateneo in the La Salle-Ateneo Alumni Golf Classic  held in three courses at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club recently.

Edgardo Bautista scored 62 to rule Class C in Batch 1969-and-below while Jose Arnel Agustin made 64 in Class A and Wendy Go had a 67 in Class B to prevail in Batch 1970-79.

In Batch 1980-89, former national team member Bobby Chico, also Eagle Ridge’s golf director, showed the way in Class A with a 65 and Jose Val Hario notched La Salle’s sixth crown with a superb 64 in Class C.

Liam Patrick Cully, who at 15 was one of the youngest players, churned out a 66 in Class A and Antonio Santos Jr. signed for a 64 in Class C of Batch 1990 and above of the event sponsored by Solaire and Belle Corp.

The dual meet also saw Louise Borja (68) turn back Pauline del Rosario  (71) for the ladies plum.

The bulk of Ateneo’s 47-point output came from Efren Sarmiento (68-Class A) and Remigio Castaneda (65-Class B) in Batch 1969 and below; Michael Miguel (60-Class B) in Batch 1990-and-above; and Francis Abraham (65-Class C) in Batch 1970-79.

Atenean Raymond Escalona shot a 72 and prevailed by countback over La Sallians Delfin Morfe and Raul Bandera in the open division of the tournament that gives 5 points for the winner, 3 for runner-up and 1 for third place of each batch.
