After his name floated around in boxing’s next big fight, Amir Khan finally decided whom he would face next.
In a YouTube video, Khan said that he would face New Yorker Chris Algieri on May 30.
Khan was in discussion over a possible fight against either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather but it all flamed out when the two welterweights agreed on a May 2 fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Algieri has a record of 20-1—his only loss is against a lopsided decision against Pacquiao—while Khan, who is Pacquiao’s former sparring mate, has 30-3.
“Chris Algieri is an A-class opponent,” Khan said. “He just fell short against Manny Pacquiao.”
Algieri said that he wanted to fight in New York at Barclays Center. RC
