Ace highlights Jorge jungolf victory

Josh Jorge spiked his victory in Class C with a hole-in-one while Lanz Uy served notice of his mean swing by ruling Class A in runaway fashion in the recent ICTSI-JGFP Baguio Junior Open at the hazard-laden Baguio Country Club.

Jorge aced the 9th hole of BCC—his sixth in just five years of playing the game—en route to a 42 on the first day, then added a 52 the next day for a 94 total and a 13-point victory over David Guangko in their division for 11-12 year olds.

Uy, younger brother of reigning Junior World girls 15-17 years champ and now Gonzaga scholar Daniella, was solid in his rounds of 49-50 that won him the Class A plum by 21 points over Jan Jan Dacawi in the tourney backed chiefly by the International Containers Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation that kicked off the summer tour of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

Luigi Wong (Class B), Javi Lazatin (Class D) and Andrew Chua (Class E) were the other boys winners in the event also sponsored by the Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf.

Annika Guangko took the girls Class A plum and was joined by Samantha Dizon, Arnie Taguinez and Bianca Macatangay as girls winners.

Dizon owned the closest win when she nipped Laia Barro by six with her rounds of 38-38-76 while Taguines was never in trouble with her 37-41-78 leading her to a 22-point win over Annika Chua. Annika Guangko (39-41-80) and Macatangay (20-21-41) were both unchallenged in their victories.

Wong chalked up a 52 and 48 for 100, winning by 10 over Marc Corrales, Lazatin rode on a big 37 on the first day to beat Kirk dela Torre by 19 with a 64 total and Chua (40-45-85) started his summer campaign on a winning note by beating Mico Granada (37-34-71) by 14.
