D-League: Titans, Bakers gun for 2nd straight wins

JUMBO Plastic and Cafe France seek their second straight victories when they tangle with separate rivals today in the PBA  D-League Foundation’s Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Looking to follow up their conquest of Hapee the last time out, the Titans face a Keramix team aching to bounce back from a disappointing outing in the 1 p.m. clash.

The Bakers, who posted a scrambling 68-62 triumph over Tanduay Light, clash with powerhouse Cagayan Valley at 3 p.m.

Cafe France’s victory over Tanduay came on the heels of an 85-86 defeat to Cebuana Lhuillier last March 26, but another win will push the Bakers to a share of second spot with a 2-1 card.

Bannered by Arellano guard Jiovani Jalalon and former Letran standouts Ford Ruaya and Jamil Gabawan, the Mixers are slowly but surely finding their stride under coach Caloy Garcia.

But the Giants have proven to be a tough nut to crack as shown in their win over Hapee.

Jumbo Plastic coach Steven Tiu admitted his revamped team still needs to improve on cohesion.

“We hope we addressed the issue during the two-week break,” said Tiu.

The Bakers are expected to have their hands full against the Rising Suns (1-1), who are out to get back on the winning track following their stunning 106-107 loss to MP Hotel on March 26.  Cedelf P. Tupas
