Foton downs Mane ‘n Tail, keeps second

Foton overcame a first-set loss to cut down Mane ‘n Tail, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, 25-15, last night and keep second place in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

The Tornadoes blew a 24-22 lead in the opening set as the Lady Stallions mounted a comeback anchored on Aby Praca and Danika Gendrauli.

But the Tornadoes regrouped in the next three frames and improved to 3-1 with their second straight victory. Their only defeat came at the hands of unbeaten Petron.

Patty Orendain provided stability for Foton with 13 points on attacks and two blocks.

Mane ‘n Tail staged another rally in the second set by racking up four straight points to move within 19-22. But Foton’s sensational rookie Nicole Tiamzon quashed the uprising by securing the set with three straight points.

After prevailing in a nip-and-tuck third set, Foton stormed to a 12-3 lead in the fourth and coasted to victory. Marc Anthony Reyes
