Zaragosa favored as Jr Am tees off Tuesday

RUPERT Zaragosa and Harmie Constantino loom as the favorites in their respective divisions when the Philippine Junior Amateur Open golf championship tees off on Tuesday at Sherwood Hills in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

The multititled Zaragosa will be seeking to add yet another jewel to his collection of national titles and underscore the form that gave him a slot in yet another PH Team that will play in the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore this June.

Constantino, like Zaragosa, won the Sta. Lucia amateur titles recently.

With members of the rock-solid ICTSI squad not playing, Constantino is the hand’s down favorite in the girl’s division.

Kristoffer Arevalo, the 13-14 Junior World champion in San Diego in 2012, is also entered and is primed to finally break through locally.

Aidric Chan, Dan Cruz, Wei Wei Gao, Ryan Monsalve, Jelbert Gemolo and Lanz Uy are the other notable entries in the boys’ division, which Zaragosa has won twice already.

Zaragosa, a college freshman at Lyceum, held both the men’s and boys’ national titles as a 14-year-old several years back.  Musong R. Castillo
