Forest Hills, Tagaytay rule WGAP Valley leg
MANILA, Philippines—Forest Hills held off Sta. Elena and hacked out a three-point victory in Class A while Tagaytay Highlands dominated Class B to close in on Alabang in the overall race in the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines (WGAP) circuit at Valley Golf Club in Antipolo recently.
Cristina Lava fired 41 Stableford points while Lin Mangulabnan, Cathy Fong and Kim Mi Hee Kwak backed her up with 35, 33 and 32 points, respectively as Forest Hills pooled a 141 to thwart Sta. Elena, which had a 138, and clinch the Class A crown in the sixth leg of the circuit.
Sta. Elena edged Alabang for runner-up honors in the premier division. Villamor’s Chanel Avaricio copped the individual title with a 41.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Highlanders, meanwhile, asserted their might in Class B, scoring a 151 for an 11-point romp over AFP, which had a 140. Alabang turned in another third place finish with a 132.
With its runner-up finish in Class C, Tagaytay Highlands gained five points and cut Alabang’s previous 11-point lead to eight, 30-22.
Rosario Dimson scored 39 points, Rebecca Albert and Jessalyn Tan each had 38 while Marlene Varua turned in 36 For Highlands.
