PETRON guns for a sweep of the first round when it goes up against Mane ‘n Tail, while Foton hopes to keep its own win streak going against Philips Gold today in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Cuneta Astrodome.
The Blaze Spikers are holding an immaculate 4-0 slate but lately, they have been put to the test by gritty teams Shopinas and Cignal, both of which won first set in their matches against Petron.
The Lady Stallions must win all their remaining games to keep alive their hopes of making the next round.
Mane ‘n Tail has some of the league’s strongest attackers in Honey Royse Tubino, Danika Gendrauli and Abigail Praca. But they will have to put their acts together in order to stop a well-oiled machine like Petron.
Petron saw its biggest stars Dindin Manabat, Rachel Anne Daquis and Aby Maraño scoring heavily in their win over Cignal. But coach George Pascua said their concern is how to maintain their intensity.
“I told them to be composed and keep their championship mentality whenever we’re behind,” said Pascua. “This is a very short tournament. Every win is important.”
The Tornadoes will gun for a third straight victory and solidify their hold of the second place in the opening game.
Foton has been showing its character the past few games, especially against Mane ‘n Tail last Thursday, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21,25-15.
Foton coach Vilet Ponce De Leon credited the team’s chemistry for the win.
