UNBEATEN Cebuana Lhuillier seeks to tighten its grip of top spot when it clashes with Tanduay Light in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Gems are off to an impressive 3-0 start but coach Boycie Zamar still expects improvements from his team in the 3 p.m. duel with the Rhum Masters.

Jumbo Plastic guns for solo second as it battles Cagayan Valley in the first game at 1 p.m.

Tied with idle Hapee with a 2-1 record, the Giants are actually aiming for a third straight win against the Rising Suns, who have struggled since the departure of Moala Tautuua to the Cebuana camp.

The Rising Suns are tied with Tanduay Light at seventh and eighth spots with 1-2 records. Endgame execution has been Cagayan’s waterloo in its last two games, which it both dominated only to fade in the final quarter.

The Gems overcame Café France, MP Hotel and Kera Mix in their first three games, but Zamar is far from satisfied.

“The team still lacks character and we also need to play consistently,” said Zamar, who is expected to rely again on Simon Enciso and Tautuua.

In their 95-88 thumping of Kera Mix, the Gems actually enjoyed a 34-point lead only to allow the Mixers to fight back.  Cedelf P. Tupas
