Manny Pacquiao continued his rigorous training for his upcoming welterweight title unification fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.on May 2.
Longtime trainer and childhood friend Buboy Fernandez said the eight-division champion nearly did a combined 23 rounds of punch mitts and shadowboxing over the weekend.
“We did 13 rounds of punch mitts earlier, four rounds of shadow boxing then of course, we also did conditioning workouts led by Justin Fortune,” Fernandez said in Filipino in a video taken by the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Roy Luarca, who is in Los Angeles closely following Pacquiao’s training camp.

Fernandez added that strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune also spent time with Pacquiao to further improve his footwork which the WBO welterweight titleholder will heavily rely on as he presses the action against the elusive Mayweather, who holds the WBA and WBC belts.
“We also did a ladder workout for the development of his footwork. All-in-all, we finished with almost 23 rounds. That’s okay because we had a long run earlier and we only do light training every Saturday,” Fernandez said.
The long-awaited showdown between the top two pound-for-pound fighters is barely three weeks away.
