Mane ‘n Tail, Shopinas nail 3-set triumphs
MANE ‘N TAIL unleashed superior horsepower to defeat Foton even as Shopinas endured a shaky third set to down Cignal Monday in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Cuneta Astrodome.
The Lady Stallions avenged their first-round defeat to the Tornadoes with a 25-22, 28-26, 25-19 triumph that enabled them to gallop from last place to 2-4.
The Lady Clickers fought off a late stand by the HD Spikers, 25-18, 25-17, 32-30, to register their third win in five matches, while pushing their victims down the standings at 1-4.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Lady Stallions, who forced the league leader Petron Blaze Spikers to a five-setter last Saturday, went on a rampage anchored on power hitters Honey Royse Tubino and Danika Gendrauli.
Tubino scored 23 points—21 in power smashes—for Mane ‘n Tail which also got 11 from Gendrauli and 10 from Sam Dawson.
Rookie Pam Lastimosa and Nicole Tiamzon carried the fight for the Tornadoes with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Cha Cruz, named PSL ambassador, once again led Shopinas with 13 points including eight kills, three aces and two blocks.
The 26-year-old former La Salle top player will serve as the face of the league for the 2015 season which will have two conferences aside from beach volleyball and champion’s league tournaments. Stephanie Mercado and Rizza Mandapat backed Cruz up with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Lady Clickers.
