Petron tries to move closer to the finals with another win over Cignal Wednesday even as Shopinas hopes to tighten its grip of second place in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
With six straight victories, the Blaze Spikers are heavily favored in their 6:15 p.m. clash with the HD Spikers, who are in the cellar at 1-4.
“We still have to be careful. Nothing is definite so we have to play as if everything is on the line,” said coach George Pascua of Petron, which needs three more wins to automatically reach the finals.
“The more we win, the bigger our commitment becomes. That’s why we have to be more careful in the next games to come. Everybody is out to beat us,” added Pascua.
The Lady Clickers (3-2) tangle with the Philips Gold Lady Slammers (2-4) at 4:15 p.m.
The top two teams after the eliminations will battle it out in best-of-three finals. Teams No. 3 to No. 6 will slug it out for rankings on April 25 at Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
