Philracom beefs up race entries

THE PHILIPPINE Racing Commission (Philracom) has launched a Summer Racing Festival program as a strategy to increase the number of entries in regular races.

“We have observed that during the summer months, sales are reduced due to fewer horses participating in race meets,” said Philracom chair Andrew A. Sanchez.

Summer is when horses are regularly spelled or  sent to the ranches for vacation.

Fewer entries means fewer races and smaller field sizes.

“Philracom will be providing an added prize of P20,000 to the winners,” said Sanchez.

The Summer Racing Festival will run from April 7 to May 15 and includes class-division races, three each day from Tuesday to Friday, and four each on Saturday and Sunday.
