HOLLYWOOD—The tickets have not gone officially on sale and yet, prices are getting astronomical.

Bob Arum, head of Top Rank which promotes Manny Pacquiao, confirmed this Wednesday, adding that the tickets could be released Thursday.

According to Arum, a top official of MGM Resorts International called him up and assured that the tickets will be made available soonest.

Fans, however, may find fewer than a thousand tickets available owing to complimentary commitments to Mayweather Promotions, the MGM group, Top Rank, Pacquiao and major sponsors of Pacquiao’s showdown with Floyd Mayweather on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

News on the very limited number of available tickets has boosted demand— and prices—that estimates now range from $1,500 to $10,000. Still, promoters expect the fight to be sold out just minutes after the tickets go on sale.

The 83-year-old Arum has raised a howl on the unavailability of tickets—Pacquiao has many complimentary commitments— and the astronomical prices in the resale market.

SeatGeek has 560 tickets on its website with the cheapest listed at $4,815, up from $4,116 in February. Floor seats start at $32,800 from $22,441 and run as high as $54,600. The median price is $10,420, leapfrogging from $1,200. Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez holds the record with a median price of $1,616.
