US bet Shin fires 66, ties Tabuena

American Micah Shin fired a 5-under-par 66 Thursday to grab a piece of the lead with Miguel Tabuena halfway through the $60,000 ICTSI Eagle Ridge Invitational at the complex’ Aoki layout in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Tabuena, already the winner of the Tour’s first leg at Splendido in Tagaytay last month, assembled a 68 as the two youngsters pooled matching 140s going into the weekend play.

Opening-round leader Ferdie Aunzo hobbled home with two late bogeys for an even 71 that dropped him behind the joint leaders by a shot.

American Brett Munson finished birdie-birdie for a 67 and 142 like Malaysia’s Arie Irawan, who shot a 69.

Yoon Sejun, also of the United States, birdied the 17th to shoot a 70 and stay within striking distance at 143 with 36 holes left to play in the seventh leg of the ADT and third on the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour.

Angelo Que made a move, shooting a 68 to be at 145 as he seeks a second straight victory after clipping Tabuena in the final round of the Eastridge stop in Binangonan, Rizal.

Meanwhile, veteran Benjie Magada shot the eighth hole-in-one of his career by acing the 152-yard fourth hole with an 8-iron on the way to a 70. The feat, though, still failed to get him through to the weekend play with the cut pegged at 151. Magada shot an 83 in the first round.
